Baku condemned Paris's statements about alleged risks for travelers in Azerbaijan

Official Baku condemned the assertions by the French side about the alleged risk of "arbitrary detention and unfair trial" in Azerbaijan, which Paris used to justify its travel warning for the country.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the corresponding statement was made by the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, in response to the statement by the spokesperson of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs dated September 17.

He emphasized that Baku firmly rejects such assertions. According to him, it is unacceptable to present judicial proceedings in individual criminal cases, conducted in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation, from political considerations and to attempt to interfere in the work of the country's judicial system.

"It cannot be overlooked that France, while making such accusations against Azerbaijan, fails to take into account the problems in its own law enforcement and penitentiary systems," the MFA representative noted.

He also recalled violations of international law, manifestations of racism, discrimination, and restrictions on human rights by France.

"We urge the French side to refrain from unfounded and biased assertions about Azerbaijan, to respect the sovereignty and internal affairs of our country, and to abandon approaches that damage bilateral relations," Hajizade stressed.
