US President Donald Trump announced the beginning of a turning point in the war with Iran, at which the question of resuming massive attacks to end the conflict will be decided.
Trump made this statement in an interview with Axios.
According to him, he faces an important decision - whether or not to destroy the Iranian regime.
The comments came on the eve of a meeting scheduled for Tuesday with leaders of six Persian Gulf countries - Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman - on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting could determine the next phase of the war - a new attempt at diplomatic settlement or an escalation of military operations. To resume major military operations, Trump needs the support of regional allies.
In early August, Trump postponed the resumption of major military operations after Saudi Arabia and Qatar expressed concerns about possible retaliatory strikes by Iran against their oil and gas facilities.
