Oman's Parliament to consider agreement with Azerbaijan on avoidance of double taxation.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, the discussion will take place at a session of the Council of Oman (parliament), which will be held tomorrow.

The draft Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income, as well as on the prevention of tax evasion, will be submitted for consideration by the deputies.

The Secretary General of the Council of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Nadabi, noted that the parliament continues to fulfill its legislative functions by reviewing submitted draft laws, agreements, and proposals, thereby contributing to the improvement of the legislative framework and state policy.

According to him, the upcoming session will also consider a draft law regulating the prevention of disconnection of essential utility services for low-income families, dismissed workers, and individuals in difficult life circumstances. The initiative is aimed at creating a legal framework that ensures a balance between the rights of service recipients and the obligations of providers.

In addition, deputies will consider a number of proposals and reports from standing committees dedicated to issues of economic, social, and infrastructure development. In particular, these include the development of the knowledge economy, the creation of a system linking corporate taxation procedures with government payments, the assessment of the effectiveness of economic diplomacy, the improvement of social housing programs and subsidized mortgage lending, the analysis of Omanization policy in the tourism sector, as well as the prospects and challenges of creating future agricultural cities.
