A famous football player has been accused of rape

The captain of the Cape Verde national football team, Ryan Mendes, has found himself at the center of a major scandal following accusations of sexual assault.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, a Brazilian citizen who had been working as an interpreter with the Cape Verde national team at the invitation of the New Zealand Football Federation filed a complaint with the police.

According to the complainant, the alleged incident took place on March 27 at a hotel in New Zealand, where the footballers were staying ahead of friendly matches. The woman claims that after a match against the Chilean national team, 36-year-old Ryan Mendes entered her hotel room, physically assaulted her, and then committed a sexual offense.

According to the publication, New Zealand police launched an official investigation on April 10. Investigators have already seized surveillance camera footage from the hotel and are awaiting the results of a forensic examination.

At present, no official decision has been made on the case, and the charges against the footballer continue to be verified as part of the ongoing investigation.
