Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Italy Discussed Strategic Partnership Relations
Azerbaijan and Italy discussed the current state and prospects for the development of strategic partnership.
These issues were the main topic of a telephone conversation held on June 26 between Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Antonio Tajani.
The ministers noted with satisfaction the intensification of high-level political dialogue. The importance of mutual contacts that took place during the recent period was emphasized, including the state visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Azerbaijan in the autumn of last year, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in January, as well as the visit of Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni to Azerbaijan in May.
The parties emphasized the importance of continuing political dialogue and mutual visits, as well as expanding cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, energy, transport, industry, investment, and education.
It was noted that holding the Azerbaijan-Italy Business Forum in the autumn of this year will serve as an important platform for deepening bilateral economic partnership.
The ministers emphasized the significance of the conference to be held in September of this year within the framework of the partnership with The European House - Ambrosetti, in terms of developing economic and political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Italy.
The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the energy sector, including interaction between SOCAR and the Italian company Italiana Petroli (IP), as well as the prospects for implementing new joint projects.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on issues of regional security, the post-conflict agenda, and the situation in the Middle East.
