Doctor named amusement rides that can cause cardiac arrest
A cardiologist has warned that some popular amusement rides can pose a serious danger to people with heart and vascular diseases.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Russian media, top-category cardiologist Valentina Kozik said that the greatest strain on the cardiovascular system is caused by roller coasters, extreme spinning rides with sharp rotations, and water slides with free falls. According to the specialist, such entertainment causes sudden blood pressure fluctuations, which can trigger a hypertensive crisis, heart attack, or stroke in people at risk.
The expert noted that such rides are contraindicated for patients with coronary heart disease, severe hypertension, as well as those who have previously suffered a heart attack or stroke. Reasons to refrain from riding may include dizziness, nausea, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and severe anxiety.
In addition, the doctor warned that even visiting "haunted houses" can cause a sharp release of stress hormones, which in people with cardiovascular diseases can lead to a spike in blood pressure and heart rhythm disturbances. In such cases, it is better to opt for calmer forms of recreation.
