bp: There are no delays with exports after the detection of organochlorine compounds at the Ceyhan terminal

Traces of organic chlorides were found in some batches of oil exported to world markets through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline - one of Azerbaijan's key export routes.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AnewZ, this information was confirmed in response to a request to bp, the operator of the BTC project.
The head of the public relations department of bp-Azerbaijan, Tamam Bayatly, told AnewZ that BTC Co conducted a comprehensive assessment of oil quality at all facilities along the pipeline.
"The inspection results confirmed the presence of organochlorine compounds in some tanks at the Ceyhan terminal. Appropriate measures were taken: problematic tanks have been isolated, while shipments continue from tanks that meet established standards. BTC Co continues to take steps to completely eliminate the problem. Currently, export activities and shipment of Azerbaijani oil from the Ceyhan terminal continue as usual," Bayatly said.
According to her, the company is working closely with SOCAR and continues to conduct sampling before each shipment.
Tamam Bayatly also added that, according to BTC Co's assessment, oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) field and condensate from the Shah Deniz field arriving at the Sangachal terminal, as well as oil in tanks at the terminal, meet established standards.
Experts note that thanks to timely measures, the export process was not interrupted, and no delays occurred.
