7 compressors will be decommissioned at the Sangachal Terminal.
As Report informs, this was stated by Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Afghan Isayev at the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW 2026).
According to him, construction of a 240-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant in Jabrayil has been launched jointly with Lightsource BP.
"The purpose of this facility is to supply electricity to the largest oil and gas Sangachal Terminal in the region," he said.
Isayev added that 7 compressors will be decommissioned. "We will keep several of them for emergency situations, however 7 will be decommissioned. On an annual basis, several hundred thousand tonnes of CO₂ equivalent will be saved," he added.
