Uzbekistani banker Kakhramonjon Olimov kidnapped in France

48-year-old financier from Uzbekistan Kakhramonjon Olimov, the sole shareholder of Anorbank, became a victim of kidnapping in central Paris.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Gazeta, he was seized on June 23 in an upscale district of the French capital, transported to the basement of a villa near Nice, where he was beaten, threatened with violence, and then released after paying a ransom.
According to a doctor at the Parisian Hôtel-Dieu hospital, Olimov has multiple bruises and injuries. He himself complained of insomnia and constant vigilance. The businessman's personal secretary said that "it was unpleasant, but it's all behind us now."
It is noted that he arrived in Paris for negotiations with French partners and to finalize a real estate purchase deal.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact under the article "illegal deprivation of freedom by a group of persons," and one person has been detained.
A source from gazeta.uz in the banking system of Uzbekistan confirmed the fact of the kidnapping. The editorial office has sent inquiries to Anorbank and the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kakhramonjon Olimov owns 99.38% of the shares of the digital bank Anorbank (established in 2020), "managing assets of over a billion dollars," and also participates through a company registered in the Netherlands in a project to build a combined cycle gas turbine power plant in the Surkhandarya region in southern Uzbekistan in partnership with EDF.
The entrepreneur also owns stakes in companies Milliy To`lov Tizimlari (Hamyon service), microfinance organization Clever Mikromoliya Tashkiloti, Distri For Country (activities of payment collection agencies and credit bureaus), Anor Assets (financial leasing) and Dynamic Energy (electricity production by thermal power plants).
