Turkey introduced a new ban for restaurants and cafes
In Turkey, it is now officially forbidden to charge consumers additional fees under various names in public catering establishments. Now restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and other food and beverage establishments can no longer demand payments such as service charges, table fees, tablecloth or place setting fees.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this restriction was developed by the Turkish Ministry of Trade and confirmed by the entry into force of the "Rules on Amendments to the Price Tag Rules".
According to the new regulation, prices indicated on the menu are considered the final bill, and establishments do not have the right to demand any additional mandatory payments from customers.
The main purpose of the decision is to ensure greater price transparency and strengthen consumer protection rights.
Food service establishments that violate these rules will be subject to administrative liability in accordance with the law.
