The US handed over a seized Iranian vessel to Pakistan
The Iranian vessel and crew captured during an attempt to break through the American blockade in the Strait of Hormuz have been handed over to Pakistan.
This was reported by ABC News, citing a spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, Captain Tim Hawkins.
"Today, U.S. forces completed the transfer of 22 crew members of the vessel Touska to Pakistan for repatriation. An additional six passengers were transferred to a regional country for repatriation last week," Hawkins stated.
The U.S. Navy captain noted that the vessel Touska is being returned to its original owner.
On April 19, the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel Touska attempted to break through the U.S. naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman. After a warning from U.S. military forces and its refusal to stop, it was attacked.
Later, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the vessel had been heading to a port in the city of Bandar Abbas. The strike carried out by the U.S. Navy damaged the engine room, disabling the engine.
Following the seizure of the Touska, a spokesman for Iran's Central Staff of the Armed Forces "Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya" stated that Iran is preparing retaliatory measures, calling the incident "armed U.S. piracy."
