The award ceremony for the winners of the "Baku Marathon 2026" has taken place.
As part of the "Baku Marathon 2026," organized on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, an award ceremony was held.
As reported by BAKU.WS, in the finish zone on the territory of Sea Breeze, medals were presented to the winners by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva.
The ceremony was also attended by Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov and President of Agalarov Development Emin Agalarov.
A commemorative photo was taken after the ceremony.
Among men, the first to cross the finish line was athlete from Turkey Ahmed Alkanoglu. Second place went to Ukrainian participant Vitaliy Shafar, and third place to Yrskeldi Akerov from Kyrgyzstan.
In the women's category, first place was taken by Elena Tolstykh from Russia, second by Anna Yusupova from Azerbaijan, and third by athlete from Kazakhstan Shirin Akimbay.
It should be noted that this year the "Baku Marathon" was held for the first time not at a distance of 21 km, but along the full route of 42 km. 25,000 people participated in the marathon.
