The most powerful solar flare in the past two and a half months, classified as X2.5, has been recorded on the Sun, Russian scientists reported, noting an increase in the star's activity.

As BAKU.WS reports, citing data from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the flare occurred early in the morning - at 04:07 Moscow time.

Specialists clarified that this is an X-class event - the most powerful category in the solar flare classification. The previous stronger eruption, rated at X4.2, was observed on February 4 and, according to expert estimates, was part of a series of the most intense solar events in the 21st century.

According to the researchers, the current flare was accompanied by a significant plasma ejection, which was clearly captured by space telescopes. At the same time, the source of the explosion is located closer to the edge of the solar disk - at approximately a 60-degree offset, which means the plasma flow is directed sideways rather than directly toward Earth.

Scientists emphasize that such processes indicate an ongoing period of high solar activity and require further observation.
