The US-Iran confrontation has entered a new phase: military threats against a backdrop of peaceful messages
The confrontation between the US and Iran is entering a new and more dangerous phase. On one hand - statements about extending the ceasefire and peace negotiations, and on the other - attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, blockades, and military threats.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Baku TV, although official meetings have not taken place, the process has not stopped. It has simply split into visible and invisible sides.
High-level meetings that were supposed to take place in Islamabad have been postponed for now. Although the city was in a state of readiness, the Iranian delegation declined the visit. Despite this, Pakistan is not backing down. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continues diplomatic efforts to bring the parties back to the negotiating table. Since the issue concerns not just two countries, this confrontation has already turned into a global economic threat.
Former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza stated that what matters is that regardless of whether Iran and the US send high-level delegations or not, negotiations are continuing.
"The real mediation is happening at a level below high politics. Experts develop new ideas every day, and they are conveyed to the parties. Currently, this process is going through Pakistan, while at the same time Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar are also playing an active behind-the-scenes role," he added.
