Among European Union countries, Denmark stood out with the highest price level in 2025, where the cost of goods and services reached 140% of the European average. These data are provided by Eurostat.

As reported by BAKU.WS, following Denmark in the ranking of the most expensive EU states were Ireland and Luxembourg, where price levels amounted to 136% and 132% of the bloc's average, respectively. At the same time, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland proved to be the most affordable for consumers, with their indicators at 63%, 65%, and 73%.

The difference is particularly noticeable in housing costs, which traditionally account for the largest share of household budgets. By the end of last year, the cost of housing in Ireland reached 190% of the EU average level, while in Bulgaria this indicator was only 41%.

In the category of food and non-alcoholic beverages, Luxembourg turned out to be the most expensive country, where prices exceeded the European average by 22%. The lowest food expenditures were recorded in Romania — approximately 80% of the EU average level.

According to European statisticians, inflationary pressure in the region also continues to rise. In May 2026, annual inflation in the eurozone reached 3.2%, whereas a month earlier it stood at 3%, and a year ago at 1.9%.

Meanwhile, across the entire European Union, the inflation rate increased to 3.3% compared to 3.2% in April. As European economic analysts note, the most stable price situation was observed in Sweden, Denmark, and the Czech Republic, where inflation remained among the lowest in the region. On the opposite end of the list were Romania, Bulgaria, and Lithuania, which demonstrated the highest rates of consumer price growth.
