AZAL recommended passengers of the Baku–Nakhchivan flight to plan their trips in advance

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) operated a total of 224 flights on the Baku–Nakhchivan–Baku route during the period from June 1 to 16, 2026, ensuring the safe transportation of more than 47 thousand passengers.

During the specified period, the number of daily flights on this route reached 25, which became one of the highest figures in recent times.

The Baku–Nakhchivan–Baku route traditionally remains one of the most popular domestic routes in the country. During periods of increased demand, air tickets for certain flights may be fully sold out within a short time. In this regard, AZAL recommends that passengers plan their trips in advance and purchase tickets ahead of time, as well as monitor up-to-date information on flight schedules and seat availability.

In recent days, unstable weather conditions in the area of Nakhchivan airport, particularly thunderstorm activity, limited visibility, and related meteorological risks, have affected the ability to operate flights as scheduled. For safety reasons, several aircraft operating flights on this route were forced to return to Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

In cases of flight cancellations or delays, passengers were offered additional flight options in accordance with international aviation regulations and available operational capabilities. Necessary support was also provided regarding ticket exchanges and other related services.

AZAL emphasizes that the safety and comfort of passengers remain its top priorities. Ensuring the safe arrival of passengers at their destination is the foundation of the airline's operations. Any decisions made under adverse weather conditions or other circumstances that could negatively affect flight operations are primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and crew members.
