The family history of General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev took a paradoxical turn after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

As reported by BAZA, the great-grandson of the political leader, who was born and built his career in Ukraine, was captured by Ukrainian military forces.

Anton Milayev is the adopted grandson of the daughter of the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, Galina Brezhneva — she raised him as her own.

The 45-year-old man went to the conflict zone in Ukraine last autumn as a sapper and already in November stopped communicating with his family. As his mother Irina Kuznetsova recounted, after several months the news came — her son had been taken prisoner.
