New WhatsApp feature: text messages that can only be read once
Testing of an entirely new feature has begun in the version of the messenger being developed for the iOS operating system.
As reported by BAKU.WS, according to the GSMArena portal, the new feature will allow users to send text messages that can only be read once.
To use this feature, users need to long-press the send button and activate the "Send for one-time viewing" option. Once opened, the message will be automatically deleted.
It is worth noting that previously in WhatsApp, the one-time viewing mode was only available for photos, videos, and voice messages. With the new update, this capability will extend to text messages as well.
The feature, which began testing in the Android version at the beginning of the month, is now undergoing an internal testing phase on the iOS platform as well. Self-deleting text messages will be available for use in both personal and group chats. However, this feature will not be available in channels.
At the moment, the new feature has not yet been introduced in the public beta version and is being tested by WhatsApp developers.
