The European Union allocates 100 million euros for the Lebanese Armed Forces
The current ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon provides a chance to prevent a return to full-scale hostilities.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas wrote this on the social network X.
"However, the death of a UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon - ed.) peacekeeper and ongoing clashes underscore the fragility of the agreements reached.
The best way to reduce the threat posed by Hezbollah is to strengthen the Lebanese state, expand the powers of its institutions, and restore its sole right to use force. To support these efforts, the EU today decided to allocate an additional 100 million euros to the Lebanese Armed Forces," she stated.
