Entry to the popular resort area is completely banned until October 31 — the REASON has been revealed
The famous Navagio Beach on the Greek island of Zakynthos, considered one of the most recognizable tourist destinations in the world, has been temporarily closed to visitors due to safety concerns.
The decision was made in connection with the increased risk of landslides and rock collapses in the area.
According to a joint statement by the Municipality of Zakynthos and the Greek Ministry of Tourism, access to the beach is prohibited until October 31.
During this period, tourists will not be able to descend onto the beach. The shipwreck and the cove can only be viewed from designated observation platforms.
Navagio Bay, known for its turquoise sea, white sandy shore, and the shipwreck on its coast, attracts tens of thousands of tourists annually and is considered one of the most photographed places on the planet.
The decision to impose restrictions was influenced by a serious incident that occurred last week.
According to available reports, a tourist from the United States sustained severe injuries after falling as a result of a landslide near the cliff edge.
Experts note that the high cliffs surrounding Navagio Bay periodically experience detachment of rock fragments and landslides.
