5 years have passed since the death of Azerbaijani journalists in Kalbajar
Five years have passed since the death of Azerbaijani journalists Siraj Abyshov (cameraman of the AzTV television channel) and Maherram Ibragimov (employee of the AZERTAJ news agency), who were killed by an anti-tank mine in the village of Susuzlug in the Kalbajar district.
On June 4, 2021, at approximately 11:00, a passenger KAMAZ truck carrying media employees dispatched to perform their professional duties in the Kalbajar district liberated from occupation struck an anti-tank mine in the direction of the village of Susuzlug. As a result of the incident, two journalists and one civil servant were killed, and four more people were hospitalized with various injuries.
Maherram Ali oglu Ibragimov was born on April 16, 1982, in the village of Ardanish in the Krasnoselsky district (Chambarek district of the Geychin mahalla) of Armenia. From September 1, 2004, he worked as a correspondent for the Azerbaijan State News Agency (now AZERTAJ), and from January 16, 2007, as a senior correspondent. A father of two children, M. Ibragimov was buried on June 5 next to his parents at the cemetery in the settlement of Mushfigabad in the Absheron district.
By decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Maherram Ibragimov was posthumously awarded the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" 3rd class.
Siraj Abysh oglu Abyshov was born on August 29, 1989, in the city of Gubadly. He began working at AzTV in 2019. S. Abyshov, who is survived by one child, was buried at the Alley of Martyrs in Sumgayit.
By decree of the head of state, Siraj Abyshov was posthumously awarded the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" 3rd class.
