Stephen Hawking and his unequivocal position on the existence of God

Scientist Stephen Hawking is known for solving the most complex problems of theoretical physics and cosmology, but he had the "simplest explanation" regarding whether God exists.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Unilad, science and religion are indeed irreconcilable when it comes to God. However, being one of the most famous and celebrated scientists in the world, Hawking decided to look at the two usually opposing sides and compare them based on their "laws."

Speaking about his disability in his last book "Brief Answers to the Big Questions," Hawking touched on the idea of God and religion, writing: "For centuries it was believed that disabled people like me lived under a curse imposed by God."

He allowed himself to disagree with this stereotypical statement and expressed the opinion that everything can be explained differently, by the laws of nature, which are always observed.

"If you want, you can say that the laws are the work of God, but this is more a definition of God than proof of his existence," the scientist opined.

Hawking shared his opinion about the possibility of God or life after death:

"Each of us is free to believe what we want, and I think the simplest explanation is that there is no God."

The scientist expressed the opinion that no one created the universe, and no one controls human destiny.

"This leads me to a profound realization that there is probably neither heaven nor afterlife. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for this I am extremely grateful."

He added that he views the human brain as a computer that stops working when its components fail.

"There is no heaven or afterlife for broken computers; that is a fairy tale for people afraid of the dark," he shared.

At the same time, the scientist urged humanity not to forget to look at the stars, rather than at their feet.

"Try to understand what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at," said the scientist.
