Member of the French parliament committed suicide
Deputy of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of France from the right-wing party "The Republicans" Olivier Marleix committed suicide in his constituency - the commune of Anet (department of Eure-et-Loir in central France). This was reported by Agence France-Presse, citing prosecutor Frédéric Chevalier.
The 54-year-old deputy was found in his home by a gendarmerie patrol on Monday evening. The patrol was called by the mayor of the commune. An investigation has been launched.
Before being elected to parliament, Marleix was an advisor to Nicolas Sarkozy during his presidency (2007-2012).
