Media: Group of Seven countries are unable to do anything about the situation with Iran
The Group of Seven (G7) countries have no choice but to watch and wait amid the crisis in the Middle East.
This is reported by Politico.
As the outlet notes, on March 30, the heads of finance ministries, energy ministries, and central banks of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom held an "unprecedented joint session" to coordinate response measures. According to Politico, following the meeting, the countries limited themselves to a statement calling on nations not to restrict energy exports. The appeal, the outlet claims, was directed at Russia and China.
According to the outlet's sources who attended the meeting, uncertainty regarding the timeline of the Israeli and U.S. operation in Iran is causing concern among the ministers. Politicians in the EU are unable to do anything, as a series of past crises has forced them to further tighten spending, Politico notes.
