A new pension has been established in Azerbaijan - DECREE

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on establishing the Presidential Pension of the Republic of Azerbaijan for family members of deminers who died as a result of an accident caused by the detonation of explosive ordnance during demining operations, or who died from injuries sustained during such operations.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the text of the document states:

"Guided by paragraph 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the aim of strengthening state care for family members of deminers who died in the line of duty during demining activities, in implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the application of the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Demining Activities'" dated December 13, 2024, No. 90-VIIQ, and the regulation of certain related matters" dated February 3, 2025, No. 316, I hereby decree:

1. To establish the Presidential Pension of the Republic of Azerbaijan for family members of deminers who died as a result of an accident caused by the detonation of explosive ordnance during demining operations, or who died from injuries sustained during such operations, and to set its monthly amount at 700 (seven hundred) manats.

2. To establish that the Presidential Pension of the Republic of Azerbaijan, instituted pursuant to part 1 of this decree:

2.1. shall be paid to the following family members of a deminer who died as a result of an accident caused by the detonation of explosive ordnance during demining activities, or who died from injuries sustained during such operations (by dividing the pension amount into equal parts according to their number):

2.1.1. the widow (widower), parents;

2.1.2. children under 18 years of age (and those receiving education at vocational education institutions, secondary specialized education institutions, and higher education institutions — until graduation from these educational institutions, but no longer than until they reach the age of 23), or children over 18 years of age whose disability was established before they reached the age of 18, and brothers and sisters being raised in orphanages;

2.1.3. grandparents in the absence of other first-priority relatives;

2.2. shall be paid by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the expenditures allocated for this Ministry in the state budget;

2.3. the Presidential Pension of the Republic of Azerbaijan, established by part 1 of this decree, shall also extend to family members of deminers who died as a result of an accident caused by the detonation of explosive ordnance during demining operations, or who died from injuries sustained during such operations, prior to the date of entry into force of this decree, and shall be paid for the period following the date of entry into force of this decree.

3. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall resolve the matters arising from this decree."
