Magnetic storms on Earth predicted after solar flare
World 1075

The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has warned about approaching magnetic storms that may reach Earth on April 16. The cause is a powerful solar flare of class M4.3 registered on Monday morning, TASS reports.

According to scientists, the expected geomagnetic disturbances may reach the G1-G2 level on a five-point scale, which corresponds to weak and moderate intensity. The weekend was marked by a surge in solar activity - in the active region No. 4055, an impressive number of flares occurred: 39 over two days, with half of them belonging to the energetically powerful category M. Such a sharp increase in solar activity has changed specialists' forecasts regarding magnetic storms, which on Wednesday may disrupt the operation of Earth's power grids and communication systems.

Experts note that magnetic storms can negatively affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people, causing headaches and general malaise. In connection with the upcoming geomagnetic disturbances, it is recommended to remain vigilant and seek medical help in a timely manner if characteristic symptoms appear.
