Iran struck a fuel terminal and power plants in Kuwait
A second power generation and water desalination station in Kuwait in recent days has been damaged as a result of an attack by Iran.
This was reported by the emirate's Ministry of Electricity, Water Resources, and Renewable Energy.
"Under the conditions of the criminal Iranian attack on the State of Kuwait, another power generation and water desalination station has been subjected to an enemy attack, resulting in a fire at one of the facility's components," the ministry's statement said.
As noted, for the safety of personnel and to ensure the stability of the power grid, authorities decided to shut down several generating units. Emergency services and firefighters are currently working at the scene of the incident.
The ministry urged the country's residents to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours (from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time) to ease the load on the grid during repair work.
According to the Iranian agency Tasnim, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck a fuel terminal in the city of Al Ahmadi in southern Kuwait. According to the IRGC, the terminal supplies fuel to the American fleet.
As reported by the country's armed forces general staff, Kuwait's air defense systems are working for the fourth time since the beginning of the day to repel Iranian missiles and drones.
"Kuwaiti air defense forces are currently countering missile attacks and enemy unmanned aerial vehicles in connection with the criminal Iranian attack," the ministry's statement on X said.
In turn, Kuwait's national carrier Kuwait Airways announced schedule changes for most flights due to the suspension of operations at the country's international airport amid Iranian attacks.
"Kuwait Airways announces schedule changes for most flights in connection with the temporary suspension of takeoff and landing operations at Kuwait International Airport due to attacks by enemy missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles as a result of the criminal Iranian aggressive attack," the company's statement published on X said.
