CENTCOM: Observation tower destroyed at Iranian port in the city of Chabahar
World 0

The US Armed Forces destroyed an observation tower in the port city of Chabahar in Iran.

This was stated in a message from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

"On July 16, U.S. forces successfully destroyed the Chabahar port observation tower, part of the maritime surveillance system along Iran's coast in the Gulf of Oman, which had been used for decades by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to track and target commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The destruction of the tower directly degrades the IRGC's ability to coordinate attacks on innocent civilian crew members," the statement said.

The tower, according to CENTCOM, was used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to monitor vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

It should be noted that Chabahar is located on the Makran coast at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz. It is the only Iranian port with direct access to the Indian Ocean.
