In the Philippines, more than 3.4 million residents have left their homes due to typhoons

In the Philippines, the number of families affected by typhoons "Ragasa," "Bualoy," and "Mitag," which hit Southeast Asian countries in the second half of September, has reached 906 thousand, corresponding to 3.4 million people. All of them were forced to leave their homes. This was reported on September 29 by the Philippine News Agency (PNA), citing data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
According to the publication, "the number of families affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones amounted to 906,794. This is equivalent to 3,402,391 people living in 8,087 barangays (the smallest administrative unit in the Philippines - Ed.) in 16 regions of the country."
It is noted that about 30 thousand families found temporary shelter in evacuation centers, while another 84.2 thousand received assistance outside the country. According to the NDRRMC, 27 people died as a result of the disasters: four deaths have been confirmed by local authorities, while the remaining 23 cases are still being verified. There are also reports of 33 injured and 16 missing. In total, almost 17 thousand homes were damaged, of which 2.6 thousand were completely destroyed.
The damage to agriculture is estimated at 1.01 billion Philippine pesos, and to infrastructure at 978 million pesos.
