Apple will offer additional protection for the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air
World 22

Apple is considering the release of a bumper case for its upcoming ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air smartphone. It is assumed that users of the thin smartphone will not want to deprive the device of its main advantage by hiding it behind a case, so the bumper could become an alternative for such users, according to MacRumors.

According to Gurman, the new bumper will be similar to the case introduced by Apple for the iPhone 4 in 2010. It will cover only the sides of the device, leaving the back panel exposed. The original bumpers for iPhone 4 were made of rubber. This compromise option will provide basic protection against falls and scratches without adding significant volume to the thin iPhone 17 Air body.

It's worth noting that the bumper case for iPhone 4 at the time became a free addition for customers due to the famous Antennagate problem, related to the deterioration of cellular signal when the device was held in a certain way that covered the antenna bands.

According to other rumors, Apple is also planning to release a case with an additional battery for the iPhone 17 Air. This will significantly increase the smartphone's battery life. Apple last released full-fledged battery cases for the iPhone 11 lineup, after which removable MagSafe Battery Packs appeared for iPhone 12 models.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 series and all related accessories in September this year.
