Trump lit the main Christmas tree in Washington

The head of the White House Donald Trump together with the First Lady of the USA Melania lit the lights on the festive tree installed in the park on the south side of the residence.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to RIA Novosti, the tree was delivered from Virginia - the right to provide the Christmas tree was given to the farm that won the national competition.

Before the president's appearance, guests were entertained by popular American performers.

Christmas in the USA is celebrated annually on December 25. The tradition of ceremonially lighting the nation's main Christmas tree has existed for more than a century - the ceremony was first conducted by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923.
