A massive reduction in the number of entry-level vacancies has been revealed due to people being replaced by ChatGPT

Since the launch of the ChatGPT chatbot in November 2022, the number of new entry-level job vacancies in the labor market has decreased by almost a third. This is happening against the backdrop of more and more companies announcing plans to use artificial intelligence to reduce staff. This was reported by The Times.

According to a study by the job search site Adzuna, as reported by The Times, the number of offers for interns, graduates, and junior specialists that don't require a degree has fallen by 31.9%. The share of such vacancies in the overall labor market has decreased by almost 4% compared to 2022 and now accounts for only a quarter.

As an example, the British telecommunications company BT is cited, which in May 2023 announced plans to replace 10,000 employees with artificial intelligence by the end of the decade. The cuts will primarily affect positions related to call processing and network diagnostics. The company's CEO, Allison Kirkby, also admits that further development of artificial intelligence could lead to even more layoffs.

Expert forecasts look even more alarming. The head of AI startup Anthropic, Dario Amodei, warned that within the next five years, artificial intelligence technologies could eliminate half of all entry-level office positions. According to his estimates, this could increase the unemployment rate worldwide by 20%.
