Changes began to be made to ChatGPT after a teenager's resonant suicide
World 6

OpenAI company (developer of ChatGPT neural network) announced the implementation of parental control features for the chatbot. This decision was made against the backdrop of accusations of AI involvement in the suicide of a 16-year-old teenager in the USA.

The company stated that the new settings will allow parents to receive more information about how their children use ChatGPT. In addition, OpenAI will introduce the ability to add a trusted contact for emergency situations, which will allow users to directly seek help.

The chatbot will also feature a one-touch emergency services call function. The company noted that although ChatGPT has algorithms set up to discourage dangerous actions, during lengthy dialogues the bot's responses may become incorrect.

Recall that the parents of a 16-year-old teenager who committed suicide filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its head Sam Altman, accusing the ChatGPT chatbot of involvement in their son's death. The 40-page lawsuit states that ChatGPT did not terminate communication with the teenager and did not activate an "emergency protocol," despite the fact that the young man shared thoughts of suicide.
