Makhachev defeated Garry and defended the UFC championship title

Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev defeated Irishman Ian Garry in the main event of UFC 330 in Philadelphia.

After five rounds, the Russian was awarded a unanimous decision victory by the judges.

As a result, the 34-year-old Makhachev defended his UFC welterweight championship title.

He won the belt in November 2025 by defeating Jack Della Maddalena. Prior to that, Makhachev had been the UFC lightweight champion, but he vacated the belt due to his move up to welterweight.

The 29-year-old Makhachev now has a record of 29 wins and one loss in MMA. The 28-year-old Garry suffered his second defeat with 17 wins.
