World 10

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that it is impossible to place the Strait of Hormuz under U.S. control. He was thus commenting on the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump about his intention to declare the Strait of Hormuz "American territory."

In a social media post, K. Gharibabadi stated that Iran does not intend to yield to threats and displays of force. According to him, the decision to close or open the Strait of Hormuz remains with Iran.

He also called on the United States to acknowledge what he described as "strategic and heavy defeats" in the confrontation with Tehran.

The day before, D. Trump stated that the U.S. Naval Forces had established a complete blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and announced his intention to declare it U.S. territory after the "complete defeat of Iran."
