Will the Formula 1 race in Baku be canceled this year?
Following the cancellation of Formula 1 races scheduled in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, speculation has emerged about a possible cancellation of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
As reported by Oxu.Az, this statement was made by sports journalist Juliana Cherasoli, who covers Formula 1.
According to her, if military operations escalate further, another race could be removed from the season calendar - this time due to Azerbaijan's proximity to the conflict zone.
In response to an inquiry from the website's editorial team, the press service of the Baku City Circuit (BCC) stated that no information about the rescheduling of the competition had been received:
"We have not received any such information. The race remains on, and it is scheduled to take place in accordance with the Formula 1 calendar."
It should be noted that according to the Formula 1 calendar, the races in Bahrain (Round 5) and Saudi Arabia (Round 6) were cancelled. As a result of this decision, a five-week break in competitions will occur in April. The resumption of racing is planned for May - the season will continue with the United States Grand Prix.
