Turkey marks the 110th anniversary of victory in the Battle of Çanakkale

In Turkey, March 18 marks the 110th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Çanakkale - one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the First World War period.
During the First World War, the whole world witnessed the heroic resistance of the Ottoman army in the battle for Çanakkale, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk forced the Entente troops to acknowledge the Dardanelles strait as impregnable.
Military operations in the Gelibolu peninsula area took place both on land and at sea.
The naval battle lasted from February 19 to March 18, 1915, while the confrontation on land continued from April 25, 1915, to January 9, 1916.
The battle is considered one of the bloodiest in the history of Turkey.
