The Ministry of Emergency Situations addressed the public

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has addressed the public regarding weather conditions.
As reported by Baku.ws, unstable weather is expected in the country in the coming days.
The MES urges the population to strictly follow the relevant safety rules. Due to cold and rainy weather, the use of gas and electric heating devices significantly increases.
Increased load on the power grid, as well as the use of faulty, non-standard, or home-made gas and electric heating devices can lead to fires, explosions, and create a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
In this regard, the MES strongly recommends:
- Not to use faulty, non-standard, or home-made heating devices;
- Not to overload the power grid;
- Not to leave operating heaters unattended;
- Not to store combustible materials and flammable liquids near heating devices;
- To use devices strictly according to manufacturers' instructions.
Special attention in the address is given to residents of mountainous areas and tourists. Specialists strongly recommend monitoring official weather forecasts and following these precautions:
- Refrain from leaving populated areas in freezing and blizzard weather;
- When travel is necessary, inform relatives about the route in advance;
- When traveling by car, check its technical condition and fuel supply;
- Avoid unfamiliar places and don't choose unknown routes;
- Strictly follow the requirements of warning and prohibition signs;
- Stay away from avalanche-prone areas and steep slopes;
- Return to populated areas before dark.
Additional safety measures during strong winds:
- Stay away from light structures and temporary buildings;
- Avoid being near buildings and billboards;
- Don't stop under electrical poles, wires, and tall trees;
- Be especially careful to follow fire safety rules, considering the difficulties of firefighting in strong winds.
