JOYFUL news regarding pensions, salaries, and benefits
Society 20

After the increase in pensions in Azerbaijan, an increase in a number of other social payments is expected.

According to BAKU.WS, this particularly concerns scholarships for various categories of citizens, benefits, and salaries of education workers.

The government, as part of the continuation of pension reform, will take appropriate steps to increase other social security funds as well. In this context, priority areas will be increasing the amount of benefits for low-income citizens, as well as increasing the salaries of workers in the education sector.

In the second half of March, important measures in the field of social security are expected to be adopted by the government of Azerbaijan. The Cabinet of Ministers will prepare and present large-scale proposals to the head of state on increasing various benefits and scholarships.

Economic expert Rashad Hasanov, in his comment to BAKU.WS, noted that when presenting the budget document for 2025, expenses for the corresponding purposes were provided:

"Simultaneously, at the highest level of government, signals were given about making decisions in this direction and announcing new social packages. Currently, it is evident that the government is both conducting an assessment in this direction and trying to minimize possible negative effects against the backdrop of existing inflationary pressure. Therefore, certain delays are observed.

It is assumed that from the beginning of the second quarter, these decisions may come into force. Certain steps may be taken in this direction. The probability of an increase of approximately 15 percent in all three areas is quite high. Especially benefits and scholarships have many directions. Therefore, there is a possibility that a differentiated position will be presented.

Since when reassessing the impact of the minimum wage on the salaries of employees of budgetary organizations, the Cabinet of Ministers presented a regressive approach. A more significant increase in income was observed for the low-income and a relatively smaller percentage increase for high-paid workers.

This may to some extent contribute to initiatives for fair income distribution, and at the same time, the probability that the corresponding strategy will be reflected in the social packages announced at the next stage currently appears high."
