The concerts were scheduled to take place on September 12 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket (Connecticut) and on September 13 at MGM Music Hall in Boston. The organizers confirmed that all tickets will be refunded automatically.

In an official statement, Morrissey emphasized that the cancellation of the concerts is related to concerns about the safety of the artist and his team. The singer thanked fans for their understanding.

Canadian authorities link the threat to 26-year-old Noah Castellano, who allegedly wrote on the Bluesky social network that he intended to kill Morrissey during his performance at the CityFolk festival in Ottawa on September 19. Castellano was arrested on September 12 and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and was released on $5,000 bail.

Despite the threat, Morrissey performed at the CityFolk festival, as well as gave concerts in Toronto and New York. The cancellation of concerts in New England became the first hindrance to his tour after the incident became public.

Morrissey has long been a controversial figure. Over the years, he has been criticized for racist, misogynistic, and Islamophobic statements, including criticism of the #MeToo movement and mockery of Muslim traditions. Human rights organizations have repeatedly called for boycotts of his performances.
