Silk Way West Airlines transferred a full-flight Boeing 777 simulator to the National Aviation Academy

Silk Way West Airlines continues to strengthen Azerbaijan's role as a key aviation training center. During a special ceremony, the cargo airline officially handed over a recently acquired Boeing 777 full flight simulator to the National Aviation Academy. The ceremony was attended by the Rector of the National Aviation Academy (NAA) Academician Arif Pashayev, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev, President of Silk Way Group Zaur Akhundov, and President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC Samir Rzayev.
The simulator, manufactured by British company L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions, represents next-generation technology, offering a highly realistic training experience and integrating three Boeing 777 models: 777-F, 777-200 LR, and 777-300 ER. Equipped with advanced visualization and flight simulation technologies, it allows for a wide range of qualification sessions, pilot assessments, and certification trainings in accordance with the highest international aviation standards.
The Boeing 777 FFS underwent a comprehensive audit conducted in February by experts from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The successful EASA certification process will be accompanied by official recognition from local aviation authorities, further strengthening the Academy's commitment to international aviation standards.
Thus, Silk Way West Airlines, which has made this technology available in Azerbaijan, eliminates the need for pilots to travel abroad for mandatory training, significantly reducing expenses and increasing accessibility. Moreover, the simulator's certification to EASA standards will attract pilots and airlines from across the region, positioning Azerbaijan as a center of excellence in aviation training.
NAA Rector Academician Arif Pashayev noted that the new simulator will provide high-quality training opportunities for pilots and aviators both nationally and worldwide: "The simulator will not only play an important role in training students studying the relevant specialty at the Academy but will also be a key step in training pilots and aviators of Silk Way West Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines, and other carriers operating Boeing 777 aircraft around the world by enhancing their skills and ensuring compliance with the highest flight safety standards."
Zaur Akhundov, President of Silk Way Group, delivered a speech at the official ceremony, emphasizing the airline's commitment to enhancing aviation excellence both in Azerbaijan and worldwide: "By equipping the National Aviation Academy with modern training capabilities, we are investing in the future of aviation professionals and pilots, strengthening Azerbaijan's role in their international education. This simulator will serve not only our pilots but also the global aviation community, setting a new standard for training quality and accessibility."
Founded in 2012 in Baku, at the heart of the Silk Road, Silk Way West Airlines performs hundreds of flights worldwide every month through a fleet of 12 specialized Boeing 777F, Boeing 747-8F, and Boeing 747-400F aircraft based at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
In line with its commitment to sustainability and efficiency principles, Silk Way West Airlines plans to update its fleet with eight new modern aircraft by 2030, including four Boeing 777F, two Boeing 777-8F, and two Airbus A350F, to better meet global logistics needs.
The airline's annual cargo turnover exceeds 500,000 tons, and its growing route network covers more than 40 destinations in Europe, CIS countries, the Middle East, Asia, and the American continent.
