Deputy: Mehriban Aliyeva's initiative will attract Azerbaijani doctors from abroad

The initiative of the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva is not limited merely to raising the salaries of tens of thousands of medical workers employed in the TƏBİB system (Association for the Management of Territorial Medical Divisions). This step represents a crucial stage in strengthening human capital in the healthcare sector, ensuring social justice, enhancing the professional prestige of medical workers, and building an overall more robust healthcare system.

This was stated in a comment to Oxu.Az by a member of the Milli Majlis Committee on Healthcare, deputy Mushfig Jafarov.

He emphasized that strengthening social protection, safeguarding public health, developing the healthcare system, and improving the social well-being of medical workers have always been among the key priorities of the Azerbaijani state.

"The President Ilham Aliyev received this initiative of the First Vice-President positively, issuing the relevant instructions for its implementation, after which the salaries of medical workers were increased.

The new remuneration standards will take effect from September 1, 2026. A total of 72,212 medical workers employed in healthcare facilities under TƏBİB will benefit from this raise," the parliamentarian said.

He believes that this step will also help prevent staff shortages in the regions. "According to the adopted decision, special incentive allowances will be introduced for specialties experiencing a shortage of specialists in the districts, and a coefficient of 1.3 will be applied to additional performance-based payments for specific services," the deputy noted.

"The favorable financial and working conditions being created will simultaneously provide a powerful impetus for attracting highly qualified Azerbaijani doctors practicing abroad back to the domestic healthcare system and employing them in state medical institutions. Mehriban Aliyeva's initiative to increase the salaries of medical workers serves as one of the key steps aimed precisely at these stated goals," Mushfig Jafarov concluded.
