PR 11

Silk Way West Airlines announced the extension of an agreement with GE Aerospace to provide maintenance services for its growing fleet of Boeing wide-body aircraft. The agreement covers five 747-8 freighters with GEnx-2B engines, six 777 freighters with GE90-115B engines, and up to four 777-8 freighters with GE9X engines.

In 2021-2022, as part of its fleet modernization strategy, Silk Way West Airlines announced the acquisition of Boeing 777-8 and Boeing 777 freighters. The airline's annual cargo turnover exceeds 500,000 tons, and its route network covers more than 40 destinations worldwide, including Europe, CIS countries, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Asia, and the Americas.

Silk Way West Airlines Chief Operating Officer Onno Pietersma noted: "We are pleased to announce the extension of our partnership. This will allow us to implement our long-term sustainable growth strategy and continuously improve the services we provide to our valued customers."

Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aerospace for Commercial Engines and Services, noted: "We are proud to continue developing our cooperation with Silk Way West Airlines as part of the airline's fleet modernization. GE Aerospace wide-body engines represent the pinnacle of aviation technology, designed to reduce operating costs and minimize environmental impact."

The GE9X engine is the world's most powerful engine for commercial aircraft and the most fuel-efficient in its class. The GE9X, available only on Boeing 777X family aircraft, including the 777-9 and 777-8 models, provides 10% lower specific fuel consumption compared to its predecessors.

Since production began in 2011, GEnx family engines have accumulated more than 62 million flight hours. Today, it is GE Aerospace's fastest-selling high-thrust engine with more than 3,600 engines in operation and in reserve, including spares.

The GE90 engine, produced in 1990, became GE Aerospace's first engine in the thrust class of more than 45 tons (100,000 pounds) and the most technologically advanced commercial turbofan engine in the past 25 years. It was the first commercial engine with composite fan blades and the first to use a component manufactured using additive manufacturing.

Today, all GE Aerospace commercial engines are certified to operate on environmentally friendly Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).
