Si Savane: By 2030, Guinea plans to build 50 thousand apartments
Guinea plans to build 50,000 apartments by 2030.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Guinea's Minister of Urbanization Mohamed Lamine Si Savane at a ministerial roundtable within the framework of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, the housing issue is no longer simply a matter of social policy but has become one of the key determinants of urbanization management, climate resilience, and economic transformation.
"Africa is currently experiencing one of the fastest urbanization processes in the world, and this creates serious pressure on infrastructure, services, and housing provision. In Guinea, the main challenges include rapid urbanization, the expansion of informal settlements, and the vulnerability of cities to climate risks. Under the leadership of President Mamadi Doumbouya, the country has entered a new phase of territorial development within the framework of the 'Simandou 2040' program. The government has launched large-scale reforms in land resource management and cadastre. Within this framework, work is underway on digitizing processes, ensuring the security of land documents, improving registration mechanisms, and increasing transparency," the minister noted.
The minister added that the program, which envisions housing construction, covers not only residential buildings but also areas such as transport infrastructure, water supply, sewerage, and urban utilities:
"The country is also implementing projects to create new cities and integrated urban centers. In particular, projects being carried out along the strategic Simandou corridor are aimed at preventing urbanization pressure created by major industrial and logistics investments."
