Janet Golding: Canada has allocated over $115 billion for its housing strategy
Canada has allocated more than $115 billion for the implementation of the National Housing Strategy, launched in 2017.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was announced by Deputy Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities of Canada Janet Golding at a ministerial roundtable within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to her, the strategy is based on human rights principles.
"Under this document, municipalities and local communities have been empowered to make decisions on combating homelessness, housing shortages, and infrastructure problems, taking into account local realities. For the next 10 years, Canada has identified three priorities: scaling up housing construction, strengthening inclusiveness and partnerships, as well as sustainability and environmental safety. Climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, and disaster preparedness will become key areas of urban policy," Golding noted.
She also added that WUF13 is an important platform for exchanging experience and best practices between countries.
