Malaysia plans to build one million affordable housing units over ten years
Malaysia has set a goal to build 1 million units of affordable and equitable housing within 10 years.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Malaysia's Minister of Housing and Local Government, acting President of the UN-Habitat Assembly Nga Kor Ming, during a ministerial roundtable at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
"Through the Residensi Rakyat (PRR) and Residensi Madani programs, we are going beyond simply providing shelter. Instead, we are prioritizing: youth, first-time homebuyers, households with income in the bottom 40%, the B40 category. We strive to ensure that the right to the city is a reality for all, not a privilege for the few, and we are also adapting our cities to climate change, transforming the housing economy into a sustainability ecosystem," the minister stated.
