German defense giant Rheinmetall has announced a significant step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, confirming the transfer to Kyiv of the latest Skyranger 35 mobile anti-aircraft systems. Notably, the financing of this important delivery is being carried out using proceeds from Russian assets frozen in the West, which sets a precedent in international military aid.

As reported by Baku.Ws citing an official press release from Rheinmetall concern, the company "is supplying Ukraine with additional Skyranger 35 air defense systems based on the Leopard 1". The concern specified that "the order value amounts to a three-digit sum in euros", and the systems "are financed by one of the EU countries from proceeds of frozen Russian assets". However, the exact donor country and the size of the batch are not yet being disclosed.

The Leopard 1 Skyranger 35 system is a highly mobile anti-aircraft system designed for effective engagement of aerial targets, including drones and cruise missiles. It is equipped with a powerful KDG 35/1000 revolver cannon of 35 mm caliber, capable of firing at a range of up to 4 kilometers with an impressive rate of 1000 rounds per minute. Thanks to AHEAD technology, the system is capable of effectively engaging air threats, and in the future there is the possibility of equipping it with guided missiles. The use of the proven Leopard 1 tank chassis provides the system with high cross-country mobility and stability on the battlefield, which is critically important in the conditions of modern conflict.
