The agricultural sector is exempt from paying taxes, except for land tax. According to current legislation, agricultural producers are exempt from paying profit tax, income tax, value-added tax, simplified system tax, as well as property tax on objects used in this activity.

In addition, entrepreneurs engaged in agro-industrial processing have also received tax benefits.

Non-operating income of individuals engaged in agricultural activities (including by industrial methods), as well as subsidies allocated to them from the state budget in connection with the production of agricultural products, have been permanently exempted from income tax since January 1, 2023.

Non-operating income of legal entities from this activity and subsidies allocated to them from the state budget, as well as dividend income of legal entities that are participants of resident legal entities engaged in the production of agricultural products, are exempt from profit tax for 4 years from January 1, 2023.

As reported to BAKU.WS by the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, in order to support entrepreneurs in the fishing industry and provide consumers with fish products at affordable prices, from January 1, 2026, it is planned to extend the tax benefits applied to the production and sale of agricultural products to this area:

"The benefits will not apply only to the production of fish roe.

Caught and frozen fish, except for fish products processed by persons engaged in fish farming, will also be considered as agricultural products.

It is expected that this change in the Tax Code will give impetus to the sustainable development of the fishing sector," the message says.
