The reasons for President Ilham Aliyev's non-participation in the EAEU meeting and informal CIS summit of heads of state have been clarified
The reasons for the non-participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU) held in St. Petersburg on December 21 and today's informal summit of CIS heads of state have been clarified.
As AZERTAJ was informed by the Presidential Administration, the head of our state did not participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held on December 21, as Azerbaijan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union.
In addition, President Ilham Aliyev will not be able to participate in the informal Summit of CIS heads of state, which will be held today in St. Petersburg, due to his busy work schedule.
We remind that the Republic of Azerbaijan, as a member state, regularly participates in official CIS summits and attaches importance to cooperation within this organization, including the development of bilateral relations with member states.
President Ilham Aliyev participated in the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State held on October 9-10 this year in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). The meetings held within the framework of the session at both bilateral and multilateral levels were fruitful.
