Vance will fly to Islamabad for negotiations with Iran only if there is progress
U.S. Vice President JD Vance does not plan to participate in the upcoming weekend negotiations with Iran in Islamabad but will be ready to fly there if progress is achieved in the bilateral consultations.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told reporters.
"We are hopeful that progress will be made, and we are hopeful that this meeting will lead to positive results," she said. "U.S. President Donald Trump, the Vice President, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be awaiting news here in the United States. And the Vice President, as I understand it, is on standby and will be ready to travel to Pakistan if we determine that such use of his time is necessary," the White House Press Secretary added.
